The Basic Four Fitness Program – Improving

Communication with your Horse

This simple, home-based, off-horse exercise program addresses the most common strength needs of the equestrian athlete: contact (collection and release), leg strength (on/off), torso stability and following. Participants are shown the athletic concepts as they apply to riding. We will give an on-horse demonstration at the end of the clinic which shows how these exercises are critical to enhanced performance in your riding.

The Basic Four addresses:

  • Core function and torso posture
  • Rein and stirrup contact
  • Elbow control
  • Knee pinching
  • Rounding the back
